Writing my oral presentation occupied me for most of August, but that exercise really helped clarify my studio thinking. I really started to lean into agonistic thinking. Taking care to attend to the occurrence of small moments, not just listening to the loudest voices.
I made another commissioned work as an alternate to the one I'd already made, which was strange because it felt like a step backwards to make another version of the pieces I was making at the end of last year. But I took that as a sign that this new agonistic direction was the right approach for the work.

This was the finished piece. They ended up going with the original one, so I still have this to play with.
The scale of the "Blonde Ambition..." work I made for July was effective, so I wanted to make some more large work using the principles of not working to a conclusion, being in the process of finishing, keeping it open, using space and not worrying about exhibition, and attending to the feedback from mid-year, to make work that shows the "continuum of ongoing reconfiguration with the potential to have parts substituted, supplemented or removed, while each work can be considered as mutably individual in relation to a wider body or family of work."

So in the spirit of re-configuration I started with two pieces from "Blonde ...", the core piece and the large over-hanging yellow piece, and built from there.
I parked it there for a bit while I made another piece over the next few weeks.
These last few pics were just testing out some colours, and there was an open, active quality to that so I left it like this till I had my Demo residency so I could see how it worked in a different space - a bigger space.
